David Haskell

David Haskell is a contemporary American ceramic artist known for his sculptural works and vessel forms. He was born in New York City in 1948 and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1970. He went on to earn his Master of Fine Arts from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University in 1973.
Haskell's work often features abstract shapes and intricate surface patterns, which he achieves through a combination of hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques. He draws inspiration from a variety of sources, including nature, ancient pottery, and modern sculpture.
Haskell has exhibited his work widely in the United States and internationally, and his pieces are held in the collections of several major museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. He has also been the recipient of numerous awards and grants, including a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in 1982.
