Folke Ohlsson

Swedish, 1919 - 2003
Folke Ohlsson (1919-2002) was a Swedish-American furniture designer known for his sleek, modernist designs in the mid-20th century. He was born in Sweden and immigrated to the United States in the late 1930s. In 1948, he founded FOLKE OHLSSON AB, a furniture manufacturing company in California that produced his designs. Ohlsson's furniture designs were characterized by clean lines, sculptural forms, and the use of high-quality materials such as teak, rosewood, and leather. His work was heavily influenced by Scandinavian modernism and was often compared to the work of other designers like Hans Wegner and Finn Juhl. Some of his most iconic designs include the "Scissor Chair" and the "Sierra Chair." Ohlsson's work is highly sought after by collectors and design enthusiasts today.
