Howard Dilday (1913-1993) was an American industrial designer who worked primarily in the mid-20th century. He was known for his innovative designs of furniture, lighting fixtures, and other household items.
 
Dilday studied at the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan and later worked for the industrial design firm Raymond Loewy Associates. In 1950, he established his own design firm, Howard Dilday Associates, which produced a wide range of products, including furniture, lighting, and consumer electronics.
 
Dilday's designs were often characterized by their sleek and modern lines, as well as their use of new materials and manufacturing techniques. He was particularly interested in the use of plastics, which he believed could be used to create affordable, mass-produced designs that were both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
 
Some of Dilday's most notable designs include the "Shuttle" chair, which features a molded plastic seat and backrest, and the "Saarinen Executive Chair," which he designed in collaboration with Eero Saarinen.
