Jean-Michel Basquiat

Jean-Michel Basquiat was an American artist of Haitian and Puerto Rican descent. He rose to prominence in the 1980s as part of the neo-expressionist art movement. His early career began with graffiti and street art, and he went on to become a prolific painter, creating many powerful works that explored race, class, and wealth. He died of a heroin overdose in 1988 at the age of 27. His works have since been exhibited in major museums around the world, and he is remembered as one of the most influential and innovative artists of the 20th century.
