John Joseph Hanright
American, 1970
John Joseph Hanright (b. 1970) is a Boston-based contemporary painter and assemblage artist known for his vibrant mixed-media works that fuse vintage and modern imagery. Drawing inspiration from mid-20th-century magazines, travel brochures, movie posters, and advertising ephemera, he creates layered compositions that explore nostalgia, identity, and American pop culture.
A graduate of Montserrat College of Art, Hanright has exhibited widely across the U.S. and Canada. His works are included in private and institutional collections. Combining collage, painting, text, and resin, his pieces reflect influences from Warhol, Rauschenberg, and Duchamp, transforming classic Americana into bold contemporary statements.
Notable exhibitions include the Samuel Owen Gallery, White Room Gallery, LA Art Fair, Naples Art Show, and Architectural Digest Design Show.
