Austrian Johann Loetz started a glassworks in 1840. The family business continued until World War II-when it closed. Loetz glass was part of the revival of cameo glass during the 1920s and is considered the premier of Bohemian art glass during the Art Nouveau period (1890s to 1920s). Due to their innovative techniques, organic forms and bold use of color, Loetz is highly sought today by both glass collectors and art & design enthusiasts.
