Nicolas Sanson

Nicolas Sanson (1600-1667) was a French cartographer, geographer and historian. He was the founder of the French school of cartography, and his works helped define France's borders. He was the first to accurately map the coastlines of the Americas and Asia, as well as the first to map out the English Channel. He was also known for his large-scale atlases, which included maps of the world and Europe. Sanson's works were widely used in Europe during the 17th and 18th centuries.
