Tamaris Borrelly

French, 1987

Tamaris Borrelly (b. 1987, Paris) is a French multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans drawing, animation, and installation. A graduate of the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, she later explored experimental film and animation at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Her work is shaped by a deep engagement with place and landscape, especially through extended stays in India, where her connection to the natural world has evolved alongside her visual language. She currently lives and works in Paris.

Borrelly’s work has been exhibited internationally, with solo presentations at DUMONTEIL in Shanghai (2025, 2023), CRD Pantin (2021), Galerie du Haut-Pavé in Paris (2021), and Coral Studio in Mumbai (2016), among others. Her practice has also extended into collaborative and performative realms, including scenography and video for Gratia Lacrimarum with choreographer Clémentine Vanlerberghe (2020), and sculptural work in terracotta developed during her Mumbai residency (2013). Notably, she participated in Silence (2012), a residency exhibition curated by Giuseppe Penone at Le Corbusier’s Convent of La Tourette.

In 2025, Borrelly’s color engravings, created in partnership with the René Tazé intaglio workshop, were acquired by major French public collections including the CNAP and ADRA art libraries.

At the heart of Borrelly’s work is an inquiry into life—its transformations, interdependencies, and delicate endurance. Landscapes and dreams recur as central motifs, guiding her exploration of the porous boundaries between species, bodies, and materials. She approaches creation as both artist and observer, building spaces that hint at other worlds—worlds where the material and the mystical converge, and where perception opens toward the poetic and the unknown.
