Ugo Schildge

French, 1987
Ugo Schildge, born in 1987 in Paris, is a graduate of The École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, completing his studies in 2014. His work is prominently featured in exhibitions in Paris, Shanghai, and New York City.

Under the mentorship of Giuseppe Penone at the Beaux Arts, Schildge developed a profound appreciation for natural forms and plant life. He is an artist with an ecological sensibility, yet his approach is not overtly activist, instead offering a fantastical perspective on flora and fauna.

Schildge employs a unique method on wood panel, using materials such as wood strips, natural pigments, and plaster. This approach challenges traditional artistic forms, blurring the lines between painting and sculpture, canvas and medium, control and freedom. His work navigates a continuous dialogue between the figurative and abstract, conscious and unconscious, technique and illusion.

Having participated in artist residencies in Montreal, São Paulo, New York, and Shanghai, Schildge's art has been showcased in esteemed public institutions including the GoodPlanet Foundation in Paris (since 2019), the Invisible Dog Art Center in New York (2016), Espace Pierre Cardin in Paris (2014), and the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in Paris (2010). His works are part of the permanent collection of the GoodPlanet Foundation in Paris, as well as in private collections across Europe, America, and Asia.
