15 Volumes. Captain Frank Brinkley.Oriental Series: China and Japan. Special unique and Extra illustrated copy decorated. Exquisitely bound in full red morocco, swirling gilt foliage borders incorporating stylized flowers of onlaid white green and purple morocco gilt surrounding large gilt oval central panels in which are depicted three white lillies with green leaves of onlaid gilt morocco, the upper doublures set with Fifteen watercolors of birds, all signed and lacquered, the lower doublures of plain green morocco, green watered silk endpapers woven with a stylized foliage design, printed on Japanese vellum, approximately 220 extra illustrations, many of them original watercolors on silk, other colored photographic plates and numerous other illustrations, many of the blank margins of the text decorated with original watercolor scenes.
