Writing as "A Lady of Massachusetts, Lydia Mary Francis Child (1801-1880) is the author: The First Settlers of New-England: or, Conquest of the Pequods, Narragansets and Pokanokets as Related by A Mother to Her Children, and Designed for the Instruction of Youth. Boston: Munroe and Francis, and Charles S. Francis; New York, no date (1829), in ¼ black morocco leather with marbled covers
Good condition, rubbing of spine and edges, 6.25”H x 3.75”W.
Child was a lifelong champion of Native American rights, women’s rights, religious toleration, educational reform., and was a leading abolitionist. -
