Description
An important monograph on the furniture and sculpture of Diego Giacometti (1902–1985), brother of Alberto Giacometti and one of the most celebrated furniture designers of the 20th century. Written by Christian Boutonnet and Rafael Ortiz of the Galerie L'Arc en Seine, Paris, with a preface by the writer and Giacometti confidant James Lord. First edition, 2003, published jointly by Les Éditions de l'Amateur and Galerie L'Arc en Seine. Bilingual French/English text, extensively illustrated in color throughout, surveying Diego's celebrated bronze furniture and objects — tables, consoles, lamps, andirons, and his signature menagerie of birds, dogs, and other animals rendered in patinated and gilt bronze — alongside works by Alberto Giacometti made in collaboration with Diego. Now widely cited as a standard reference in Diego Giacometti scholarship and auction provenance literature. Cloth boards with pictorial dust jacket.
