Description
A Napoleon III period gilt bronze encased Second Empire mantle clock. The Roman coin-like plaque on its top urn and the Egyptian masque at its plinth, harken back to the Ancient Roman Empire. Its movement plate inscribed "H & F Paris" serial # 1902. (A serial number, not a date) Its strike has a very pleasing soft tone.

Five decades of antiques collecting experience in a succession of Historic Register homes in Virginia, New York, and Connecticut; and a 1901 beaux arts building on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Open Thursday through Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and on Tuesday and Wednesday by appointment.
