Anglo-Indian Oval Rosewood Pedestal Table

$ 10,000
  • Description
    Grand and profusely hand-carved solid rosewood oval tilt-top center table, made in India during the reign of William IV; acquired by British watercolorist C. Bigot whose stamp is impressed on the table's block. Bigot created a series of maritime topic watercolor prints during the second quarter of the 19th century. A table of great presence and utility: A center table, a library table, tea or dessert table, morning or breakfast room table. It may even serve as an intimate dining table or conference table. The gadrooning and carved elements of its pedestal and quadruped paw base are exceptional. Thick solid hand-planed and -carved rosewood; far more frequently encountered as a striking veneer. This table is raised on barely visible casters.
