Description
A pair of Austrian Jugendstil gilt bronze figural candlesticks by Gustav Gurschner. The figures bow their heads and are cocooned and suspended in midair by swirling drapery. Their bare arms and shoulders rest atop the multiple folds of the cloth.

The taller of the two is inscribed GURSCHNER 12.1900 DEPO AUSTRIA with underside impressed MOD. 87. The female figure inscribed GURSCHNER 1901 AUSTRIA, stamped BERNDORF and underside impressed MOD NO 87 Dimensions: 11.00 and 10.75 inches in height; 4.75 in diameter.
