Description
A lifesize terracotta head in Gandhara style. Based on the style, it is likely from Kushan period Northern India, circa 4th century. Classic facial composition with stylized hair and bear style. It is in an excellent antique and stabile condition, although area of losses could be seen on the back of the head, which appear to be attached to a wall previously. Due to the terracotta construction, there are tiny dust coming out of the mounting pole when being moved. Total height is 17inches, 12 inches head only. This sculpture comes from an estate in Maryland, and no provenance could be found. Based on our knowledge, we believe that it is an authentic piece from the period but as a buyer you should determine this on your own.
