Description
Rare 1930s French Art Deco Modernist Frame or Mirror by Desny Paris
An exceptional and rare modernist frame or tabletop mirror by Desny, Paris, dating to the 1930s. This French Art Deco piece exemplifies the refined industrial elegance associated with the Maison Desny design atelier. Fashioned from polished chrome-plated metal and natural woven rattan, its striking circular form and minimal stepped base are hallmarks of the Machine Age aesthetic. The geometric clarity and choice of contrasting materials speak to the avant-garde spirit of interwar French design, where luxury met functionality with bold innovation.
Stamped "DESNY PARIS – MADE IN FRANCE – DEPOSE," this piece is not only a functional object but also a collector’s treasure. Whether used as a picture frame or a mirror, its sculptural presence makes it a standout on any desk, vanity, or modernist interior setting. In excellent condition, this is a true testament to the rarefied elegance of 1930s French design.
Desny was a very important French company who are well known for table lamps, nightstands, accent lamps, bowls, lights, and other objects with an ultra-modern design, especially for the time 1927-1933. -
