Description
Art Deco Cast Iron Plant Stand with Faux Bronze Nude Female Statue, France c. 1930
This dramatic Art Deco cast iron plant stand is topped with a finely sculpted faux bronze female figure, draped in a stylized gown and rendered in the unmistakable spirit of French sculptors of the 1930s. Standing with elegance and grace, the statue evokes the serene idealism of a garden nymph or muse, her head tilted in repose, bringing a romantic human presence to this decorative object. The figure alone rises 12 inches high and is plated to give the illusion of aged bronze, adding depth and allure to the entire piece.
Supported by a fluted cast iron base with three curving legs and matching scalloped feet, the stand features a circular tier designed to hold three potted plants, black cast holders included. The entire form feels like a vignette from a sculpture garden, offering a theatrical moment that blends architecture, fine art, and nature. Though perfect for greenery, this piece also makes an impact as a sculptural object in its own right, even without plants. The painted surfaces and plating show beautifully restored condition and a refined patina.
We currently have two of these rare Art Deco garden stands available, and the price listed is for one. Whether used as a decorative accent in a formal living room, sunroom, or collector’s retreat, this piece offers timeless charm and sculptural presence. An excellent statement for those who appreciate unique French Deco. - More Information
