Description
Catteau Boch Gazelle Vase with Unique Matching Painting Belgium Art Deco
Item #3577
Catteau Boch Gazelle Vase with Unique Matching Painting Belgium Art Deco. A unique opportunity to purchase a rare Boch gazelle vase with an original painting depicting the vase. Purchased in Belgium it is a great pair to appreciate and display for the collector and professional.
Crafted with meticulous artistry by the famed Charles Catteau, this vase isn’t just a vessel; it’s a testament to the innovation of the Art Deco movement. Its form, graceful and sleek, embodies the essence of the roaring ’20s, a time of creativity and avant-garde design. The gazelle motifs, and meticulously hand-painted cloisonne in vibrant blue, cream, and black help to make this very recognizable design a classic.
Additionally, an original painting captures its very essence. A stroke of fate brought together during a recent visit to the country, depicts this remarkable vase, inspiring an artwork that echoes within the painting and mirrors the vase’s curves and gazelle motifs, an exquisite tribute to its timeless beauty.
We have sold this vase in the past, in different sizes but have never seen original artwork depicting the design as well. All inspiring for the artist. Catteau was featured in the Paris Exposition of Artes Decoratives in 1925 and, by then created hundreds of pieces every year with distinctive shapes and forms. A team of artists worked with him, applying the pigments to his designs that merged geometric and floral embellishments.
