Description
An English sundial from the late 19th century, with carved limestone and bronze top. This English sundial features an obelisk-shaped base, raised on a pyramidal plinth, with cut-off top. Each side is adorned with triangular motifs reminiscent of gables, carved with œil-de-bœuf openings. This linear arrangement leads the eye to the limestone top, exquisitely carved with volutes that seem to be falling from each side. The bronze sundial part is made of a disk, adorned with Roman numerals and a central star, a "rose des vents", on which sits the dial. With its nicely weathered aspect and perfect combination of curves and clean lines, this English, 1880s sundial will be an excellent decorative accent in any garden.
