Swedish 19th Century Gustavian Sideboard

Made in Sweden around 1800, this Gustavian sideboard belongs to the Swedish neoclassical tradition that took its name from King Gustav III. Gustavian case furniture is characterized by restraint, clean lines, and a typically muted palette, qualities reflected in the measured form of this sideboard. Designed for the dining room or hall, the sideboard provides enclosed storage with a serving surface above, proportioned for practical use against a wall.
