Description
A striking large wrought iron planter dating to the nineteenth century, produced in France during the Napoleon III period. This decorative piece is constructed in hand-forged iron and retains its original painted surface, displaying a richly aged patina that reflects both time and craftsmanship. The openwork basket form is elegantly proportioned, allowing the design to remain visually light despite its substantial scale.
The planter is supported by a sculptural base with scrolling ironwork and curved feet, providing both stability and decorative presence. The craftsmanship and detailing are characteristic of the Napoleon III era, a period known for its revivalist aesthetics and refined garden and architectural elements.
Stable and in good overall condition, this planter is suitable for use in an interior conservatory, covered terrace, or garden room. Its combination of functional strength and ornamental ironwork makes it an excellent focal piece, offering authentic nineteenth-century character and enduring visual appeal.
This is an antique and having been around for a long time, it will show signs of wear. Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! -
