Large vernacular stone basin dating to the 19th century, originating from Liguria in the hills above Genoa, Italy. Hewn from a substantial block of stone, the object has a broad, irregular circular form surrounding a deeply hollowed interior. Visible tool marks and vertical grooves remain along the inner walls, while the exterior has been left considerably rougher, emphasizing the direct nature of its construction.

Decades of exposure have given the stone a richly weathered surface, with tonal variation, erosion and areas of natural moss remaining visible. Its precise original function is unknown and has therefore not been specified, preserving its interpretation as a utilitarian piece of Ligurian vernacular material culture. Today, the basin can function as a substantial architectural or garden element while retaining the traces of its original use and environment.
