Description
Pair of French malachite and ormolu pedestals
French, 20th Century
Height 102cm, width 44cm, depth 44cm
Elegantly mounted with ormolu features and fully covered in malachite, this pair of pedestals is guaranteed to add a touch of elegance to the appropriate interior.
Each pedestal is of a rectilinear shape, its shaft adorned with several ormolu pieces. Each facet of the pedestal includes ormolu frames as well as charming floral garlands. The vibrant green of the malachite creates a superb surface on which other decorative objects can be displayed.
The shaft stands on a refined ormolu plinth, further supported by a malachite base and ormolu feet.
Centuries ago, malachite was believed to ward off evil spirits and now is considered the ‘stone of transformation’. Its presence in one’s interior space encourages growth and positive change. -
