Rustic vernacular pine door from 19th-century France, originating from Saint-Véran in the Queyras, Hautes-Alpes. Constructed from substantial vertical pine boards, the door is reinforced by broad horizontal battens and additional vertical supports, all secured with numerous hand-forged nails. The simple iron latch and hardware further emphasize its functional origins. Its direct construction, irregular timber and deeply weathered surface are characteristic of traditional Alpine craftsmanship, where locally made architectural elements were shaped primarily by material, necessity and durability. The accumulated marks, wear and variations in the wood remain visible throughout, preserving the utilitarian character and history of the piece. All our rustic furniture has undergone a two-cycle preventive woodworm treatment for long-term care.
