Description
Pair of Large Weller Pottery Matte Green Leaf Jardinières Circa 1910
Offered for sale is a pair of large matte green jardinières made by Weller in a large leaf design. These were acquired together 40 years ago in the condition and are in the condition they were found in. It is very rare to find a pair. They have a vintage patina and show some surface wear as shown. There are a couple bubble marks, stray scuffs, and a couple rubs. One pot has glaze losses as shown. That pot had been used as a planter or a vase as it has stains inside as shown. That also has a tiny flack of the glaze missing on the rim. The bases are unmarked and have glaze overrun marks from when they were removed after firing in the kiln. Any irregularities are from the firing process. They have never been restored and both ring when you tap the. There are no cracks or chips; only surface wear. One pot does have a dark edge where it appears to have been too close to the elements during the glaze firing.
Someone previously tried to touch-up paint areas on one as shown. It could be properly restored and is not considered a restoration. Stray marks and scuffs from when they were used as planters/ jardinières show. The interior of one has stain rings. -
