1960s Modernist Concrete Planter by Willy Guhl

Description
Made in the 1960s by celebrated industrial designer Willy Guhl, this concrete planter offers a piece of design history. Guhl was known for his sculptural and sensitive Modernist works – and this planter is no exception. The deep curve of the pot-bellied container is raised upon a tripod of out-turned legs; a pair of geometric handles adds a contrasting line of symmetry. The surface of the concrete has a subtle color palette of white, apricot and grey, as well as a textural patina typical of Guhl’s pieces, which adds a note of homey imperfection to the perfectly balanced form.
