  • Description
Wonderful 19th Century Neoclassical Cachepot or Planter in Patinated Brass.

An elegant late 19th century oval jardinière / cachepot / planter in patinated brass. Wonderfully decorated with repoussé decoration of flowing garlands of fruit and foliage which unfold around the body. The design shows a strong neoclassical base style influenced by art nouveau shapes and atmospheres.

The form is both decorative and architectural. Slender, upright handles rise from either side, their silhouettes lending lightness and grandeur to the piece. Four applied feet lift the vessel slightly from the surface. The interior shows traces of use and age.

Comes in a good and original condition with the brass showing a rich and desirable patina.
