Description
Remarkable late 19th century Austrian silver box out of the so-called "danube monarchy" (Austria/ Hungary) around 1870. This absolute impressive, artfully handcrafted jewelry box or decorative box was made of fine solid silver (see the Diana head hallmark - picture #12) and shows an intricate design, ornated by many detailed, embossed floral patterns. The amazing looking lid can easily be opened by using the little "sculpture" on top without touching the silver surface. The inside surprises with an astonishing, slightly gilt surface and builts an extraordinary contrast. Standing on four delicate, extravagantly created feet, this valuable 19th century silver box almost weighs 17oz! A real rare and gorgeous example of a late 19th century silver jewelry box, coming in absolute great original condition. (only the lock is unfortunately not working)
