Art Deco Hammonds Six Inch Terrestrial World Globe on Verdigris Cast Metal Base

$ 900
  • Description
    Diminutive 6" Terrestrial Globe by C.S. Hammond and Co. (ca. 1927-1930, USA).
    Dating is based on the following - Central Australia as a separate territory (1927 to 1931), Constantinople present (1930), Arabia present (1932), Manchuria pre-Manchukuo (1932), and Persia present (1935).
    Composed of twelve paper gores over pasteboard, all supported by a sculptural verdigris cast metal base.
    Olive green water bodies accented by brown, ochre, orange and pink landmasses. Warm, natural patina present along with scuffs, minor paper loss, and more significant tension splits to the paper around the equator. Globe is structurally sound and rotates smoothly.
    Handsome decorative object of historical intrigue whose small size makes it a perfect desk or tabletop accent.
    (Given the globe's size, note that the print is quite small and hard to fully decipher without magnification.)
    H: 9.25" x Diameter: 6"
