Description
Pair of French antique opaline glass vases by Baccarat
French, Mid-19th Century
Height 42cm, diameter 19cm
This striking pair of opaline glass vases is by the esteemed French glassmaker Baccarat and was crafted during the mid-1800s.
Each vase is formed in a graceful amphora silhouette and showcases finely hand-painted botanical and nature-inspired motifs. The rims of the elongated necks are finished with rich gilding, contrasting beautifully with the white opaline glass below.
A wide gilded band embellishes the upper section of each vase, adorned with intricate swirling patterns that gracefully extend beyond the band’s edge. Flowing downward from this are multi-coloured floral motifs, rendered in varied sizes and encircling the body in a harmonious, organic rhythm.
The design is completed with a second gilt band around the base, creating a sense of balance and cohesion throughout the piece.
This elegant pair of vases brings timeless beauty and a touch of 19th century French sophistication to any interior.
