Description
Ben Seibel Orb bookends, brass. Pair of rounded sculptural brass over white metal bookends with cutout handles - the form resembling Turkish kettlebells. The warm patina to the brass plated finish which shows minor scuffs and scratches and a spec of loss to one (see photo 3), otherwise in good original condition with oatmeal colored felt covering the hollow undersides. Retailed by Jenfred-ware of New York.
Seibel, after studying painting, sculpture and architecture, set up his own studio in Post- War Manhattan where he worked with a small staff until his death in 1985. He said that the study of sculpture had been one of the most important forces in his approach to design". -
