Description
A bell that rings only when summoned. Pulling the long leather cord sets the copper and anodized aluminum tubes in motion against one another, releasing a resonant, layered tone from beneath the canopy above.
The canopy is formed from curved, overlapping panels of brushed aluminum, cut and assembled into a domed shape that recalls both a flower and a pavilion roof. From its underside, tubes of copper and anodized aluminum in varying lengths hang suspended, their warm and cool metallic tones playing against one another and against the dome above.
Along the cord, raku ceramic beads punctuate the descent before arriving at the handle — a cylindrical raku form, pale and crackle-glazed, sized to fit the hand. It is the only part of the piece meant to be touched, and it carries all the warmth and imperfection of fired earth.
