Collection of four Continental porcelain bird models

$ 2,000
  • Description
    Collection of four Continental porcelain bird models
    Continental, 20th Century
    Largest: Height 17.5cm, width 9cm, depth 7cm

    This enchanting set of four porcelain bird figures, dating to the 20th century, beautifully captures the grace and vivid colouring of various bird species.

    Two of the birds, a nuthatch and a pastel-toned blue jay, were produced by Beswick Pottery, a celebrated British ceramics manufacturer. The blue jay, crafted in matte bisque porcelain, is especially striking with its soft pastel palette, while the glossy-glazed nuthatch is shown poised atop a rocky base, its beak gently lifted in an engaging pose.

    The remaining two models originate from West Germany, created by the respected makers Gerold Porzellan and Kaizer Porzellan. One of the birds, finished in glazed porcelain, is richly decorated in vibrant shades of blue, while the second is formed in biscuit porcelain, showcasing subtle earthy tones that enhance its lifelike appearance.

    Each figure bears the hallmark of its respective maker on the underside.

    Full of charm and character, this quartet of porcelain birds offers a delightful decorative accent, ideal for collectors or those seeking to bring a touch of nature into their home décor.
