Description
American, probably coastal New England, early 19th c.
Carved giltwood with polychrome paint
Over-all in excellent condition, some shrinkage cracks and wear commensurate with age.
Provenance: Private Collection of Charles and Olenka Santore, Philadelphia, PA
A wonderful early example of a carved spread-winged eagle retaining an untouched surface and highlighted with the eagle perches on a rock with a painted patriotic shield. -
