Description
A carving of a fearsome rearing lion, the position known as rampant, in silvery limewood. Fully carved to front and back. Depictions of lions rampant can be found on heraldic coats of arms, and this one is notable for having his tongue out, a sign of strength. Now on custom metal stand. Can also be wall hung. English, 19th century.
