Art Deco Glass Vase by Charles Schneider with Wrought Iron Base, 1926

$ 4,750
  • Description
    A French Art Deco glass by Charles Schneider, celebrated for his innovative work at the Verreries Schneider in Épinay-sur-Seine. This vase takes a striking architectural form: a wide, shallow saucer-shaped bowl in Schneider's signature "tango" glass — a rich orange-red hue that shifts subtly in tone from a deeper coral at the rim to a paler, more translucent orange toward the center — sits atop a tall, tapering conical stem in the same vivid glass, its faceted, ribbed surface catching the light along vertical panels.

    The vase is raised on a wrought iron base of naturalistic design, its hand-forged straps and openwork banding evoking a stylized nest or basket form. The base is further embellished with applied wrought iron leaves and small orange glass berries wired to the metalwork, echoing the warm tango tone of the glass above — a charming decorative touch that unites the glass and metal elements of the piece into a cohesive whole.
