Art Deco Melted Colors Glass Vase by Charles Schneider

Description
An unusual vase by Charles Schneider, of double-gourd baluster form with a bulbous knopped neck rising from a broader tapering body. The piece is covered in a rich, mottled crystalline glaze in tones of moss green, ochre yellow, and deep aubergine-black, pooling and running dramatically toward the lower body in a manner reminiscent of the celebrated "flambé" and crystalline glaze effects explored by French decorative artists in the early 20th century. The interior of the neck reveals a warm amber tone, contrasting with the earthier palette outside.
The dense, textured surface — with its crackled, lichen-like mottling and dripping glaze pooling toward the foot — gives the piece a distinctly organic, almost geological quality, characteristic of experimental art pottery glazes of the period. Signed to the underside of the body.
