Art Deco Purple Glass Vase by Charles Schneider, France, 1928

Description
A striking Art Deco coupe by Charles Schneider, France, circa 1920s. The bowl is acid-etched with a rhythmic pattern of tall, rounded panels and fades from clear glass at the rim to a soft raspberry tone toward the base. It narrows into a tall, textured stem in deep aubergine, with two applied handles and delicate pulled-glass trailing accents. The piece rests on a broad, rounded purple foot. Schneider's mastery of layered and fused color is evident throughout, and the tonal shift from translucent to saturated makes this an elegant example of French Art Deco art glass. Signed "Schneider" on the foot.
