Description
A rare design fern handled mantle vase ivory unglazed designed by the influential florist Constance Spry for Fulham Pottery. The exterior of the vase is matte, with a gloss interior. The subtle detail impressions evoke a Classical luxury, allowing the flora to take centre stage, or the vase can be used as a beautiful stand-alone design object. Stamped to the base with the ‘Constance Spry’ signature, and Fulham Pottery.

Constance Spry caught the attention of the public and interior designers alike after opening her Mayfair shop 'Flower Decorations' in 1934. As a florist Spry was celebrated for her impressive public flower displays, incorporating unconventional plants and containers, drawing influence from the Dutch flower painters of the 17th and 18th centuries. She later wrote several best-selling books on the subject, and was commissioned to arrange the flowers for the processional route for Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation.
