Description
This stunning and dramatic sculpture entitled "Ice Queen" was realized by the esteemed modernist sculptor Dan Bedik in 1990. It features a stylized figurative bust of a mythic male figure with elegantly proportioned sculpted facial details in white exotic marble with beautiful grisaille veining. Two long meandering sinuously curved tendrils (also in white exotic marble) unfurl behind him, spiraling in a wave form, and combining into one leaving an open form curlycue that appears (like the sculptures of Bernini or Michelangelo) physically impossible to achieve in stone. With its technical mastery of the medium and timelessly modern sensibility, this piece is sure to delight discerning collectors of modern art as well as those with a penchant for all things truly special and stunning. The piece is presented on a volumetric rectangular oil rubbed bronze pedestal (with an original tag reading "Dan Bedik Ice Queen '90". It is in excellent vintage condition.
