Bronze Sculpture by Édouard-Marcel Sandoz (1930) – "Seated Monkey". This exceptional bronze sculpture by the renowned Swiss animalier Édouard-Marcel Sandoz, crafted in 1930, showcases a striking depiction of a monkey in a vivid, cubist style. The artwork captures the animal in a moment of deep contemplation, its tail held tightly and features a beautifully sculpted. It exemplifies Sandoz's extraordinary ability to merge naturalistic detail with modernist abstraction, creating a masterwork of form and emotion.
Crafted in fine hollow casting using the Cire Perdue technique by the prestigious Susse Fres. Foundry in Paris, this sculpture exemplifies the highest standards of Art Déco craftsmanship. Signed "Ed.M. Sandoz" on the base, it is a rare and magnificent example of Sandoz’s work, completely original and pristine.
Édouard-Marcel Sandoz, who rose to prominence in the early 20th century, was known for his innovative designs that bridged the gap between art and functionality. His collaboration with Haviland in the 1910s introduced a new aesthetic, with pieces ranging from utilitarian objects to fine art sculptures. This particular work reflects Sandoz’s mastery of animal studies.
