Pair of gilt bronze table candelabra by Ferdinand Barbedienne
French, late 19th Century
Height 97cm, width 46cm, depth 35cm
These large and finely cast candelabra were made by the well respected bronzier Ferdinand Barbedienne and are a truly exceptional example of 19th Century French craftsmanship. They are decorated in the Neoclassical style and each with nine light branches. The vase-form bodies with twin scrolling handles and centred by a grotesque mask, surmounted by the upward facing light branches. The square shaped base with four paw feet. Each signed to the base 'F. Barbedienne'. -
