-
Description
From the late 19th century around 1890 in Austria - the so-called "Historism" period - comes this extraordinary brown/ golden wooden jewelry box. Artfully crafted with attention to details, this hexagonal shaped, highly decorative box impresses with its handpainted surface (a so-called, literally translated: dough glaze = imitated, painted wooden structure) and the lovely gilt floral-themed stucco applications everywhere. The inside has been reupholstered with green felt long time ago and shows some bleached spots. The center of the hinged lid is additionally decorated with another golden ornament. A really gorgeous late 19th century jewelry box, coming in great condition.
