Description
A striking Italian 20th century life-size deer sculpture, expertly hand-carved in solid walnut with a wonderfully naturalistic presence. The sculptor has captured the animal in an elegant alert stance, with lifted head, elongated neck, and gracefully poised legs that convey both stillness and quiet movement.
Beautifully observed details define the piece, from the expressive facial features and carved antlers to the subtle shaping of the musculature across the chest, torso, and haunches. The warm walnut surface, now enriched by age, displays a rich natural patina that enhances the organic character of the carving and highlights the beauty of the wood grain.
Mounted on its original carved base, the sculpture has impressive scale and visual impact, making it ideal as a garden focal point, entry statement, or interior decorative object. Both sculptural and architectural in presence, it is an unusual example of Italian decorative wood carving, blending rustic charm with refined craftsmanship.
Antique pieces have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. Please review photos for condition & contact us with questions! - More Information
