Totally rad, and impossible not to love, this fantastic fish vase can be enjoyed as a sculpture on its own or filled with flowers - either way it will most likely make you smile.

Just Andersen created a series of fish sculptures in the 1930s, and they have a wonderfully wild, animated quality. This example is particularly fantastic, with a young boy riding on the back of the fish. The sense of movement is perfect - it really does look as though he (or she) is just along for the ride. Executed in Andersen’s signature “Disko” metal, there is so much life to the scales, fins, and playful figural details. A seriously cool piece of Danish design that sits somewhere between functional object and sculpture.

Marked with the Just A. monogram. Denmark, early 1940s. Good condition, beautiful brown patina - a signature of the Disko alloy, and some little marks here and there. Overall, it's quite stunning.
