Description
Exceptionally rare pendant by the one and only Paavo Tynell. This particular light was a custom order for the University of Economics in Helsinki (now the Aalto University Executive Education), created in 1950. Good condition with wear consistent with age and use. Truly one of a kind, and the way the light filters through the brass shade gives you a starlight effect - it's simply fantastic and one of the most collectible of Tynell's designs, as it was not made for sale to the public.
Paavo Tynell (1890-1973) was an industrial designer, known as the great pioneer of Finnish lighting design, known as “the man who illuminated Finland”. A master craftsman himself, Tynell’s designs were derivative of a traditional aesthetic with a modern sensibility. Marked by delicacy and softness, his most famous forms echo the structures of nature & are some of the most sought-after lights in today's market. -
