Description
Large decorative Murano glass vase, made in Venice, Italy in the late 20th century, entirely mouth-blown and hand-crafted using traditional Venetian glassmaking techniques. This impressive piece is executed in thick, high-quality crystal glass and richly decorated with multiple layers of color, demonstrating the skill and artistry associated with Murano production. The vase is extensively worked with colorful overlapping murrine and several layers of blown glass, combined with the bullicante technique, where large controlled bubbles are trapped within the glass mass to create depth and a remarkable textured effect. The surface displays a vibrant composition of yellow, red, plum, white, and blue tones enhanced with silver inclusions, all overlaid in clear crystal, giving the appearance of a modern abstract painting suspended inside the glass. The mouth of the vase is elegantly cut at an angle, adding a dynamic sculptural quality to the form.
Because of its large scale, rich colors, and strong decorative presence, this Murano vase works beautifully as a centerpiece or statement object and can complement both modern and traditional interiors, adding a refined pop of color to any space. The vase stands approximately 25 inches high and 9.5 inches in diameter, making it a substantial and eye-catching decorative piece. Overall in good condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use, and free of chips, cracks, or repairs. -
