A late 19th century (circa 1890) well matched pair of freestanding Chinese hardwood pot stands of rectangular form.

These pot stands each consist of a rouge marble inset top surrounded with a hardwood banding, the frieze below with superb foliate and floral carved decoration of lotus flowers (a symbol of purity and devotion) and cherry blossom (a symbol of love and passion) terminating with carved scroll design, below the frieze a pierced and carved stylised bamboo design.

The stands are supported by shaped legs with two lower recessed shelves with moulded edge, terminating with claw feet.

Although these pot stands are not an exact pair they are extremely similar and Chinese furniture is rarely identical, they would be ideal for displaying large pots or used as occasional tables.

This pair of versatile pot stands are in very good condition for age, are of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
