Art Deco leopard panther bookends by the French artist Frecourt on marble base. Fine animal detailing work and signed on the metal with artist name, France and initial C.R. Unusual red marble base in excellent condition. Standing up tall and ready to pounce. Original patina in green verdigris.
Maurice Frécourt was a sculptor during the Belle Epoque period in France circa 1890. Although he made a name for himself, it was in 1920 at a Paris Salon Exhibition that he gained true fame and prestige, by bringing the Art Deco style to his animal sculptures. -
